philly cheesesteak sliders

howdy, friends!
as soon as i saw these
over at
i knew i had to make them!

philly cheesesteak sliders

italian beef, prepared
6 Tbs butter
1 large onion, sliced
2 green bell peppers, sliced
1 Tbs butter
1 Tbs all-purpose flour
1 1/2 C milk
1 1/4 C grated pepper jack cheese
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 package {12 ct.} hawaiian sweet rolls

1. make italian beef. wait 8 hours.

2. melt 6 Tbs butter in saute pan & add onions. cook for 15-20 minutes over medium heat to caramelize. when the onions start becoming a medium-brown color, add bell peppers. cook another 10 minutes.

3. melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. whisk in the flour & cook for 1 minute. slowly whisk in milk, & cook, whisking constantly until thickened, about 4-5 minutes. remove the mixture from the heat & whisk in the cheese until combined; season with salt & pepper.

4. cut rolls in half lengthwise while still attached. layer beef, veggies, & cheese on the bottom rolls. top with roll tops :). the down the roll lines & serve!

seriously - these sliders are SO good.
they would be perfect for summer entertaining, too,
because you can make a large quantity in practically the same amount of time!

hubs loved 'em,
so i think they've pretty much made it into the rotation!
:)
until next time,

  4. I am loving your printer friendly thing. Awesome!! I do have a random question and I hope it isn't a stupid one. how did you do your Italian beef?

  5. @danielle - not a stupid question at all!! :D i got a cheap roast from the grocery store, threw it in the crock pot with beef stock, parsley, basil, thyme, rosemary, garlic, salt, pepper, & a couple of bay leaves... & let it do its thing on high for 4-6 hours. i flipped it once about 2.5 hours in & when it was done, shredded it with 2 forks! hope that helps!

This is a great slider. I really like the addition of the pepper jack cheese and the sweet bun, a great combination. Thanks for sharing with Full Plate Thursday and come back soon!
