Hi, everyone! My name is SnoWhite and I blog over at Finding Joy in My Kitchen.  My blog is all about cooking healthy meals from scratch with simple ingredients.  I am delighted to be guest posting here at Delightfully Dowling!  Today, I am going to share an easy recipe for a healthy berry sauce.

We love this sauce so much -- we use it over our favorite waffles or pancakes, spread it over English muffins, drizzle it over our favorite ice cream and enjoy it in a homemade yogurt parfait.

This recipe is incredible versatile; we love it with berries, but peaches and/or nectarines are a lovely addition.  Use what you have and make a yummy sauce.  This recipe is perfect for fruit that needed to be eaten yesterday.  If you know what I mean.... !

Berry Sauce  - Finding Joy in My Kitchen

2 C berries {I used blueberry and raspberry}
2 T honey {or brown/white sugar}
1 T cornstarch
1 T water

Begin by measuring out the berries.  I've used fresh or frozen, slightly squished or not, and they all work!  Choose (or use up!) what you have.

Add the berries to a medium sauce pan.

Sprinkle with corn starch. Toss to coat.

Drizzle honey over the mixture.

Add 1 T water.

Stir to combine.  

Then, heat the berries over medium heat until, stirring nearly constantly, until the berries begin to cook up.

The sauce will thicken as the mixture warms.  Simmer for 2-4 minutes once the mixture is warmed to allow the sauce to thicken up.

Serve warm over your favorite breakfast dish.

Or, place the berry sauce into a glass jar and store in the fridge until ready to use.

To serve, spoon chilled berry sauce over ice cream or yogurt.  If you desire to use it warm again, either re-heat in a sauce pan, or microwave it for 30 seconds and you're good to go!
