a few days ago, i saw the most incredible cake...
and knew i needed to replicate it.
i'm not going to post the recipe here,
but you can definitely check out
for all of the details.
i'm very proud of myself!
though, i must admit...
i've been putting this cake together for the past 6 hours or so.
i love the way it turned out,
but i don't think this is an every week sort of recipe.

i think it was worth all of the trouble,
don't you?
this would be an exceptional cake for your someone special!
also, i have some exciting news!
sweet desi from
has passed along the
stylish blogger award.

thank you so much, desi, for your kind words & support!
i'll be passing the award soon, so be on the lookout!
but, for now, i am exhausted!

dowlings, (caked) out!
i'm linking this post to
for tasty tuesdays!

WOW!!! That is incredible and looks delicious! And the heart in the middle? Perfection! Well done! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job! :)
ReplyDeleteUm that cake is pretty amazing! I don't think I would be able to do that! I love the heart in the middle, so purty! Congrats on your award... and yeah it does take time to pick out 15 bloggers, and tell 7 things about yourself, so take your time, I'm sure you are exhausted from this cake!
ReplyDeleteOkay seriously that heart is some super awesomeness! You are my idol! I love that frosting border (?) around the top too.....how the heck did you do that? I love to bake but I'm kind of a spaz with the decorating. This looks like something that I would buy in a bakery!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your Stylish Blogger award - you deserve it! It makes me happy to read your posts. Wait.....what's that over in your sidebar - oh thank you thank you you sweet thing for putting my button on here!! You are the best.
@Lisa - that frosting border was SO simple; i just used a large piping tip! it was the 2D tip from wilton's. you can get one here:

the larger tips really make a difference! i've been using itty bitty tips until my friend rachel showed me just how simple the big ones are! i've also signed up for a cake decorating class on thursday nights, so i'll share any great tricks i learn!
& and i LOVE your blog, so of course a button will be over there! :D
Of course I love the heart inside( I love Amanda too), but I really love how you decorated the cake with the red velvet cake crumbs! So unique and beautiful! Smooth icing too:)
